Allow Me to Introduce Myself

Hey there interwebs! Welcome to our brand new website, showcasing and selling hand crafted soaps that I make in my home based workshop (and sometimes kitchen). First let me thank my husband Tim for keeping the kitchen spotless. Frankly I’m surprised I’m allowed in there.

What can you expect from this blog? Well, every Wednesday we will sit down, drown out the sounds of Sud 1 and Sud 2 (more on them later), and update you with the goings on in the House of Suds. Updates on ideas we are working on, here and there ramblings about life and work in the House of Suds, and all things soap!

How did you come about? That’s a long story. Short version, after Sud 2 was born, husband and I thought long and hard and decided it worked best if I became a stay at home mom. A conversation came about with my mother/business partner about what I could do while I stayed home. We went through the list of things I like, things I could do, and most important, what are all the other moms in town making! My hoarding of a certain big brand hand soap (who could pass up their deals) gave us a great idea: SOAP! We got right to work scouring the internet, books, youtube, etc, and in February 2016 we made our first bar of soap. It wasn’t flashy, no swirls, just a basic bar of soap. I was hooked, and the rest as they say, is history!

Who are Husband, Sud 1, and Sud 2? Husband is my husband Tim. I frequently just refer to him as Husband across social media and he likes to live off the grid, but you may catch him in person if you come and see us when we set up a table at a street fair. Sud 1 is my oldest daughter, shrink wrap captain, and mini me. Almost 6 years old going on 40. Follow us on social media and you will see her pop up here and there. Mostly with off camera commentary. Sud 2 is my youngest daughter. 9 months old and already has an attitude. When I’m working in the kitchen, she will stand at the gate and scream at me just for the sake of screaming. She will also sneak into the bathroom, strip off her diaper, and scream at the tub until I giver her a bath. She’s the water baby!

Who am I? I’m the “Lo” in ToLo. Taking the first two letters of mine and my mothers last names, we make up ToLo. To is more of a silent partner, support system, investor, and mommy. However, just like Husband, you may run into her from time to time at a street fair we are attending.

There it is, my tiny family/co-workers. All soaps I make, I make with my family, and yours, in mind. I test each batch and call all my soaps my babies or lovelies. I care about what I put in my kids hands, and yours.

So here we are 6 months later with a catalog of close to 60 soaps (not all of them are ready so we haven’t photographed or posted them yet), a workshop full of supplies and tools, and a notebook bursting with ideas. We are so excited to begin this chapter of the ToLo story!

Love and Suds,

-Lo-

EDIT:

I just received an awesome question, it has been in the back of my mind but never made it to the front.

HOW DO I RESERVE A “COMING SOON” SOAP?

You will notice that the soaps that are “Coming Soon” are Out of Stock. This is because they haven’t finished the curing process. You shouldn’t have to pay for something you won’t be able to receive for a few weeks. If you are interested in a soap that isn’t available to purchase yet, contact us through the site, and we will put your name on one! Once it is ready, we will email you and check to make sure you are still interested. If you decide to pass, no problem, the soap will go to the next person in line!

We are still new at this, and will have a few kinks to work out along the way. With your help and patience, I’m positive it won’t take us long at all to get the hang of this!

Tomorrows official blog post will be about how to navigate our site, special orders and requests, and how we expect to complete your orders!

Thanks in advance!
