Hair Cuts, Bowling, & Climbing Sugar Mountain

Yesterday Sud 1 turned 6! I still can’t believe it, I never pictured having a 6 year old. Yesterday, I let her dictate the day. Why not, right?

6:45am: PRESENTS! I’m surprised I didn’t get jumped on. I woke up to the sounds of Husband and the Suds chatting in the living room. I get up and ask why no one woke me up. They are all so sweet. She got everything she wanted for the most part, Sud 2 got to chew on wrapping paper, and I still can believe this is the 5th time we are opening presents. I didn’t think I had to get her gifts for the day she was born, I mean I just pushed her out, thats a gift in itself.

8:30am: Husband leaves for work. Lady Day can begin! I start to get ready for our traditional circus waffle breakfast (fun fact: 8/24 is National Waffle Day), “No, not this year mommy.” I’m heart broken, but she’s a person now who is trying to gain control over her 6 year old self, so I stifle back the tears and move on.

10:05am: “Hey, what are you doing in here?” I peek around her bedroom door, “Just playing. Can I have some privacy?” More stifled tears.

11:20am: Time to wash her hair and get ready for her haircut.

12:00pm: The moment of truth. Will she actually go through with cutting off her princess hair. She’s been asking to do this for awhile, but I’m a terrible mother and talk her out of it. Finally I give in and figure “I can do what I want with my hair so can she”.

4 braids, 10 inches each, and an amazing stylist. Now my biggest baby has an adorable bob, and she donated enough to make a full hair piece. She became my hero yesterday.

12:25pm: BOWLING! We have enough time for one frame. I have to get back to start prepping for the bday bbq. Well half way through her game, and 3 trips to the desk to ask for maintnance, the lane just shut down. They offered to move us, but Sud 2 was cranky, Sud 1 was frustrated, and I was just annoyed. So I asked for a voucher to come back another day. I’m glad she’s so passive and go with the flow.

1:10pm: I know how to cook & bake, and I’ve been using that talent for my soaps recently. But today I put it towards the construction of Sugar Mountain. I let Sud 1 pick out everything having to do with her cake. The flavor, the icings, the toppings. It was a beautiful lemon cake, lemon icing on the inside, blue vanilla icing on the outside, topped with every type of candy the sell in the baking isle, sugar blob. She ate the icing and candy off. We keep sugar, cake, and candy to a bare minimum IF that, but whatever it’s her birthday. Husband and I did bargain with her telling her she had to eat some of the cake, and TO gave her milk. Calcium.

Husband came home and started the grill. Variety of sausages, peppers, cranberry sauce, carrots, and sliders. Sud 1 made the menu.

Today we recuperate. I need to make meatballs, add new soaps to our line up, package and label soaps that are ready, finish and deliver a custom order, make a second custom order, and fill out some forms for upcoming fairs and festivals we will be attending! All while entertaining the Suds and enjoying our last 10 days of summer.

Don’t forget the coupon code SUD1BDAY is still good until 9/1! Use it at check out for 15% off your order!

Love & Suds,

Lo
